The History of the Jasbo's Salsa Mexican Recipe

Over 40 years ago, James Sr. worked with an elderly gentleman named Jose' Villareal, from Acapulco. Everyday Jose' would bring a small jar of salsa and chips to eat on his break. Most days, James Sr. would ask to sample the delicious salsa.

Jose' explained that the recipe, which dated back many generations in his family, was made in the traditional manner. Produced of ingredients harvested from the same soil as his ancestors.

Ol' Jose' passed on the recipe to James Sr. with these words, "Make it yourself."

So he did.

What we know today as Jasbo's medium-hot salsa, was the original recipe. It was produced by James Sr. originally only for friends, family and personal consumption decades ago. Mixing ingredients in large containers and cooking it in boiling pots, James Sr. stayed as consistent as he could to Jose's recipe. After years of eating this spectacular salsa, someone in the family informed James Sr. that he may be able to sell it.

So he did.

Since then Jasbo's Salsa has developed into 5 different flavors; 4 tomato-based and 1 tomatillo-based, all staying true to the original. It is no longer produced in our kitchen, but in an FDA approved bottling kitchen using the same recipes.
